Leighton Baines

I'd only want him sold if he racially abused a fellow footballer or bit an opponent. As there's no way I would back him then.

As it is he's done neither and is an ace scouse left back so he can stay. Was pleasing to see although there were other clubs in for him, the most successful English club ever no less in Man Utd, that he didn't go blubbing to the media and try to force a move but instead decided to stay with his club for the right reasons.

I'm sure all of us fellow blues can agree on that.

Most of us would dive at the chance of staying a blue.

He's been poo - by his standards - this season, but did look very good against West Ham, imo. Let's hope he can get back to form and help us go on a run between now and season end.

It was a fantastic display of loyalty, one that is all too rare in the modern game.

I'm hopeful he can regain the top form he's shown in previous seasons. Regardless, he's still our best left back and I've got no qualms over keeping him for as long as he wants to stay. We've got that transfer war chest anyway this summer haven't we? No need to add to it...

Of course mate. Some don't like Rooney of course but he was young and his head turned by Man Utd. I think most players for the likes of Liverpool and us would have their head turned by Man Utd coming knocking.

Of course its great to see loyal scouse players representing their clubs and their fans in unison with them.

And even when you have a knowledgeable and much loved fan base who help your non local players "get it" too. That's really something when that happens mate.

I like the sneaky text added to his number seven, as if the burning of the shirt wasn't enough to show what he thinks of the fella. Kipper Gold lads.

Can't wait to see this warchest. We've been adding to it dead patient for fourteen years now.

Barca will be bracing themselves for a bid for Messi and no mistake mate.

[Poor language removed] it. Buy City and get them playing in royal blue.

They're in Manchester right?

We've nearly been hoodwinked by those Manchester people before. Living in flats and trying to "buy" the club.

Anyway, will keep on topic as can appreciate it may be somewhat Groundhog Day to see board comments seep into other threads.

One day we'll get the owners we deserve lids. Keep the faith/attack car bonnets.

Well then im afraid to say your local bias is overshadowing your views on the game. we want the best players to play for us and their place of birth or regional accent isnt as important as footballing ability.

as i say i think Oviedo is better. its no surprise that when he came into the team we launched a great comeback against liverpool, recorded our biggest win of the season against stoke where he scored an abssolute banshee of a goal, won at old trafford for the first time in years with him tucking home the winner and put in a superb performance against arsenal. the lads only 24 and if he recovers from his injury he'll be on of the best left backs in the league if not the world over the coming years.

baines has been a great servant over the years but hes 29 now and is not exactly going to get any better is he. i think we could command a respectable fee and use it to improve the rest of the squad with the money.

Living in hyperbole there, buddy. A few months of good form does not make the lad a world beater.

Baines isn't reaching the exceptional standards of previous seasons, but there was bound to be a slump at some point. If his attitude's right and there's no injury issues then he can get to that level again.
