Dunno why everyone is getting excited about coleman signing a new deal, he signed a 5 and a half year one in dec 2012 taking him to 30 yoa, seems pretty daft giving him a new one already when he has 4 1/2 years left, especially as were dealing with a high wage bill apparently limiting players in until we shift some out etc, sign him to a new deal at 28 until then let him keep pushing his play to deserve the reward ffs
He's magnificent. Think someone else said this though, sometimes when Baines is playing the majority of the play goes down the left side all the time, limiting Coleman's involvement. Happened at Norwich
Yes you said this already. Didn't make it right the first time.
Different thread but point still remains, dunno how on earth people can get excited about us giving coleman a huge pay rise when we have him under contract till the summer of 2017 already... this improves us how as a club i fail to understand in the slightest, Barkley is under his first professional contract so yeah can understand that being a good thing, gets him under a proper professional rather than youth contract type thing, baines yeah his contract is running out and it stops his value plummeting come the summer, coleman, how is it benefiting the club to be seen as this great news
Did you ever think it could be for our benefit. We can use it as an chance to up his buy out clause among other things. Basically, its not just give him more money for nothing.

This is a Baines thread.
They're both tremendous fullbacks. Other clubs want because they're good.

It could be to benefit us too man. Use it as a chance to put a buy out clause in, or raise a current one. Basically buying more commitment.
No offense meant here mate, but far too many people seem to think in FM terms with buy outs, VERY VERY few players at English clubs have a buy out in their contract, probably only a handful of players which i can ever remember, just think a lot of us seem to think that the fellaini clause he had is a norm in British football when in fact its usually only ever seen when desperately trying to stop a player who otherwise could walk soon - like we feared over fellaini - that clause was only in their as his agent had us bent over at the time
Completely different kettle of fish in spain and portugal etc, although some clubs over their just insert ridiculous buy outs which effectively make them a moot point - Bilbao and Barca two classic examples
I can state with 99.99% certainty that the likes of Coleman don't have any form of buyout in their deals whatsoever
Wasnt saying that this was we we are giving him a new contract, it could be just to keep him sweet. Was just responding as to why we could be giving him a new one when he has so long on his current one. Its not always as straight forward as doing it to reward him. It could be for our own protection to. Its not FM terms, (i dont have that game so dont know whats like) its business terms.
Wouldn't be surprised if Moyes made sure Coleman had a clause in his new contract he signed before Moyes left.
