Leighton Baines

I wonder if Baines will feel the same if Everton are above Utd at Christmas.

Haha, it's very plausable mate.

Forgetting everything that has happened and our link to moyes, from a footballing point of view I feel very sorry for him. SAF is a clever man, he new the state of a team he was leaving for a new man. The fergie effect has pulled them thru the last couple of years not the players. Arguably 5 of our players (Coleman jags Baines Barry mirallas) maybe a couple more would be serious contenders for there first team!

Personally think we'v agreed to let leighton go if the right price comes in for him. As said, by Xmas he could well change his mind about going utd anyway, not suggesting we're gonna end up above them but ATM I'm not seeing them being above city, Chelsea, arse and spurs.

I have said this before and I still think it is the most likely option.
Baines wanted to leave but RM and Bill Kenwright didn't want to lose both players in the same window and at the last minute.
I think it has been agreed that if Utd reach a certain figure that Baines will be allowed to leave in January.
It will have given RM four months to settle in as manager and four months to find a replacement.

Of course there is always the chance that the Utd boardroom may not be very anxious to send another 15m to Everton after their benevolence in the Fellaini transfer and the realisation that just maybe they have not taken the greatest manager in the world from Everton.

In any event I think Evra is still a very good player and Utd have much bigger problems than left back.

...this is just about the view I have been posting, but I wonder if he's agreed to stay for the full season (as opposed 'till January). All this talk about him being under contract and us refusing to sell is naïve. During the window, RM said this club will not keep hold of players who want to leave. Baines is a good pro and is respectful of his club, as a consequence I reckon he's agreed not to rock the boat and he'll be allowed to leave. If this scenario is correct, I wouldn't be surprised if the deal isn't for big bucks so LB is 'looked after'.

Baines

Back to his best in the last two England games with his driving runs at a high tempo in the opposition penalty box.

So why has he not being doing it under Martinez?

I think he's been great, him and Piennaar link up boss so without this it mightn't look as pretty down the left but Leightons been sound as.
