Well, I haven't bothered to read through this thread so I'll just say this.

The fact that we didn't play our best doesn't gloss over the FACT that Everton were hard done by the referee. Lukaku's shove in the box not given for us and then Zabaleta's dive given and it easily could have been a draw. And who knows from there.

Yeah, City were better in the final third and created more chances but that's not to say Everton didn't deserve anything after the non-call and then call. I'm not even going to go into Milner's tackle.

I'm waiting for the day where the referee has a shocker in our favor. Hasn't happened yet.

I think there was one against Blackburn(?) a few years back? I might be making that up.

yeah but...

...human nature is such that you can live with ****ty refereeing if you were the second best team playing. Bottom line, at this early stage of the season is that we need to amend mental deficiencies in our game...at the top level, it is ALL about the top two inches. Referees are influenced not only by a home crowd, but about the strut and confidence of a team...psychology 101

We were not expecting to be undefeated this far into the season and we certainly weren't going to end the season as invincibles... the particular details of the performance aside (no barry, terrible ref, ossie, etc etc) a 3-1 loss to Manchester City hurting after 2 consecutive losses is nothing to be ashamed of.
Bring on Hull and let's get back to winning ways...

City were the better team but that referee was appalling.

The foul on Lukaku was a worse push than the one that they got their penalty from, yet we didn't get it. I'm not saying it would have, but it might have changed the course of the game. I get really tired of seeing refs favour 'big' teams with penalty decisions.

If one of our players had pushed Aguerro like Lukaka got pushed in the box that ref would have given it, without any hesitation. He's either being paid, incompetent or just totally biased\influenced by bigger teams.

I don't think it's a question of a "big" team getting the decisions over us, FFS we are Everton and are "big" ourselves, it is more a case of a "hometown decision".

That boy from United was booked for diving at Sunderland on Saturday.....if that game had been at OT he would have got a penalty for it.

I'd wager if our match had been at Goodison we would have got the penno for Lukaku and ther'e a fair chance he wouldn't have given theirs.

Not going to be popular this, but i dont think the Lukaku push was a pen.

The ball / Lukaku / Evertns play was going nowere, so what Nastasic did was irrelevant.

Zabaleta was going in on goal, clear pen.

I don't think that would be right, Pabbers.

I agree with you that Likaku was going nowhere but I very much doubt that gives an opposition player the right to foul him.

And whilst Zabalets sure did go over easily, Seamus deffo touched him ergo a penno was the correct call as you say.

He was shielding the ball mate ready to win a corner or waiting for support to come. Do you seriously think Coleman done enough for zabaleta to go down?

From what I remember, Lukaku was about to control the ball and Nastasic barged him over before he could which resulted in the ball going out of play. Penalty.

The point isn't wether the ref thought Lukaku was going anywhere with it, the point is it's illegal to foul a player in your own box.

Lukaku had been running their defenders ragged all first half and their player was worried he'd turn inside him again and score another goal, so he weighed up his chances of tackling him cleanly and decided it was easier\safer to just push him over.

Grasping at straws.

I hate moaning about these ref decisions.

We lost because they were better.

Not a pen for me, sorry.
