2025/26 David Moyes

Boyland today confirming that even after James Smith is in post, Moyes is both providing specific profiles and has the final say on all transfers. Insane to have your manager (a short-term position) be the most important voice in the room on transfers (a long-term decision) anyway, but particularly insane at the start of a huge rebuild when his CV on transfers is this:

Of players signed since summer 2020, the only two players they sold for a profit are Kudus (great) and Downes (for about 5m profit). EVERYONE else was a loss, left on a free, or is still there and part of a relegation-threatened squad. That's such an awful record, regardless of how many were him and how many were the DoF. Moyes is a perfectly solid Prem manager and was a really good choice to steady the ship for the transition to the new owners. Handing him the keys to the transfer rebuild is absolutely mental though.

Today's press conference, Moyes is a bit annoyed that he is being questioned on his comments after Newcastle and doesn't like the questions that Guilia Bould asked, he seemed to close her down quickly and basically say it is what it is.

Dyche beat Newcastle 3-0 with lesser player than we have now.

Moyes needs to change his mentality quickly otherwise he will be hounded out.

This is what i hated last time he was in charge, kept saying plucky Everton and knife to a gun fight etc.

I am bored
Everton spent ~£110-130M this summer depending on which figures you believe.
Everton lost players totalling ~£60M also this past summer.

newcastle subbed on £173M of players on Saturday evening. Both their CM's cost £40M, our two were £8M Garner and £0 psr work around Tim Iroegbunam.

I am also bored of the status quo. We have improved significantly in terms of the squad in the past 6 months, but there is a vast amount of room for further improvement. The expanded revenues from the BMD move, the pay offs of sponsors and none football events will take time to come through on the balance sheet.
Incremental progress.
