January Transfer Window 2026

….totally disagree, a young lad should be desperate to get on the pitch and impress. He started against Palace in the league and disappointed.

Easy to make excuses, I’m sure they’re doing lots of work with him behind the scenes and ultimately it’s up to him. I’d be 100% sure Moyes would love him to be making a real impact, it’s just a nonsense to think otherwise.

Anyway, bit of a Groundhog Day discussion for the Dibling thread.
You could say this about nearly all of our players for numerous games this season, the difference being that they are the ones who keep getting multiple chances to play themselves into form. Alcaraz absolutely took his chance against Palace, his drive and directness from the middle changed the game completely and his reward was to be shoved out to a wing in the next game where he’s proven to be ineffective and then dropped immediately after. He probably only started that game against City because KDH was suspended as well and had little to do with him “taking his chance”.

Did you think Jake O’Brien wasn’t impressing in training for half a season which is why he didn’t get a look in for Dyche?

Behind a paywall. Can you please summarise ?
Hard to do business in January
Strikers need to score goals
Midfield will be light due to injury/Afcon
Coleman and Patterson are enough to provide cover at RB
Branthwaite is left footed so he can cover left back when he’s out of his wheelchair
We are not in the same league as Newcastle
4231 at all costs
Moyes wants Premier league experience
Angus Kinnear sniffs his finger after he’s scratched his bum

Its just money down the toilet for 2 or 3 years of use. Madness.

We had the option to sign players 21-24 in Jan and last summer who have now shown themselves to be quality players.

Wesley, Kayode & Truffert. Moyes didnt want them and stopped deals for the former and the latter last Jan.

Instead we were after Soucek, McGinn, Ramsey, Rohl and KDH.

For how many games a season?

He's never played even half a seasons worth of minutes in any top flight division.

He's not starting that now in a faster more physical league.
Let’s see how things go, but he will cope physically no problem. Also the rumour was he was impressing in training before his hernia

Interesting information about Angus there, source?

If we end up spending this January it will be on Ward Prowse (not wanted, too slow/aging, performance has dropped off the cliff) and Robinson (good player but physically finished).

If West Ham and Fulham can get any money for these two they with celebrate. We will happily walk in and overpay for both, and be stuck with them on the payroll for the next 3-4 years.

We should have learnt our lesson by now. But we won’t.
Moyes wanted soucek and I think, that while TFG/kinnear should put their foot down, maybe they wanted to support Moyes in this first window, but I’d guess once West Ham said what they wanted for him TFG pulled the plug and Rhol was targeted 2 days before the window closed. And my guess this will be the same for the likes of ward prowse.

….no, I’d imagine the last thing Dyche thought of was playing a 6ft 4in CB at RB when Tarkowski and Branthwaite were playing so well in tandem. I know I never thought of playing him there and I don’t recall posters on here suggesting he’d be effective cover at RB.

Innovative from Moyes to introduce a young player like O’Brien into the team in such an unlikely position.

Posters have made up their minds that if Dibling turns out to be a poor signing it’s down to him being mishandled by Moyes, but if he turns out to be the superstar we hope then it’s in spite of Moyes

I can only guess why the lad has failed to perform, but most seem to know.

…..when a player like Dibling fails to have an impact, it’s easiest to blame the Manager, especially when you’ve predicted he’s the next great thing.

Lots of factors could be at play here, only time will tell if it’s been a good piece of business or not but I’d assume he’s been disappointing for whatever reason.
It's almost like Moyes has an established tendency about taking time to fully incorporate younger talents, it's not blaming him but recognizing that's how historically moyes operates , also who is he supposed to displace for Dibling? Grealish, KDH or Ndiaye who are all of his preferred players that he is usually reluctant to replace for the majority of the match?

A proper sitting defensive midfielder would be ideal this January , so frustrating we weren't able to get Palhinha as he opted for spurs as he would of perfectly fit the profile we need in the midfield

If he was a Moyes signing, than the buck will always stop at his door.

Unless Dibling is downing tools or causing disharmony in the squad (which i cant see is happening) than it will always be down to the manager.
