2025/26 David Moyes

The "ego trip" was signing KDH & Grealish to slow the play down.
I’m not filled with confidence by Moyesy’s Jacob Ramsey comment either. There are surely a hundred players who would be better uses of 40 million quid for our needs. He talked about Newcastle having much more pace and power than us, then generally targets players without much of either! Ramsey’s like a Leon Osman for 2025 isn’t he - a steady Eddie, who’s not quite a centre mid or a winger. Harrison Armstrong will be a much better player than him imo 😆

Nah Ramsey isn't nothing like how you describe him. Villa fans weren't happy to see him go but PSR means selling local talent is profitable

Ramsey is a quality player who looked like he'd end up being in the England squads long term back on 2022/2023.

Since then hes had many injuries and been moved around left side or centrally when fit.

He does strike me as a bit of an Osman thesedays. A teachers pet type like the players Moyes typically likes in the team who will simply follow his instructions and treat him like a general.

Would you pay 40 mill for him if you had 40 mill to spend?

Ive said this many times now but i'd have tried for Chris Rigg. I think he'll become a top player and its another top talent to add to Dibling, Armstrong and Aznou's age group.

Failing that, we did wisely go for Fofana and Monga is obviously still very young but I'd have gone for him over Ramsey as he is already doing well for England u19s at 16.

Again...beyond those players and if theres magically no more future superstars for under £40mil id be looking to bring in a top player.

£40mil + McNeil + Iroegbunam sales brings in a top notch central midfielder.

Instead we signed injury prone Merlin Rohl :(

Jack Grealish is one fantastic footballer but what in reality was the point in signing him given the wages and the best we will finish is midtable....

I would say it was a number of things:

1: Statement signing to encourage others to join (failed).

2: Short term boost to get the team into the top half of the league and possibly europe (currently failing)

3: A shift from direct attacking quick football to slower buildup (success, which is a fail).

4: Mentality change in the squad

5: Vanity signing by Moyes

6: The fee was £15mil paid to City, we dont pay his wages, City do. This kicks the can down the road for a season when we have time to search for a replacement or for Dibling to take the right and Ndiaye to have the left next season.

I must be the only person on here that never listens to a pre match press conference.

Nope, me too. A waste of time for a fan like me, who just doesn't care enough anymore that I need to know what soundbites the manager is saying. Only care what is happening on the pitch.

Being a manager these days is akin to being a politician, with the amount of media focus on football clubs and every word can and will be taken out of context, for those that care enough about their own agenda.

The only manager to take us to one suggests maybe he isn't the problem no?
Losing to teams like Shrewsbury, the year they were relegated from the football league, losing 0-3 at home to Wigan, the year they were relegated from the PL, getting knocked out of the EFL cup by Wolves this year, the only game they`ve won, might be showing he might be a part of the problem.
