Why should we be winning things at the moment? A lot of the squad nearly got relegated a couple of years ago and we could have gone out of business before the Friedkins came in. Going to take a few years at least to get to where the owners want to be.

To win things you need to start on the right path. Yes, we turned a corner, new owners, and a new stadium. Should have been in with the new out with the old, but Everton went in with the old for some reason.

That's the level of Everton players over the last 35 years. We don't attract many top level players, so we get second raters who want the accolades for the odd win against the odds and then pipe and slippers, as you say, for the follow up. They're happy to settle for the odd win. These lads have to be ruthlessly purged if we are ever to progress. Monday now a one-off fluke, it seems.
