January Transfer Window 2026

Crazy in which way ?

would you want more or be Happy with that ?

Going by his brand of smug condescension towards our players in the past who aren't iwobi , I would say that he feels 30 million would be an excessive fee for Garner , in this market I think it would be accurate.
Accurate is still one we should take!

I like Garner, but I don’t think he’s got the type of upside that means we should resist an offer.

A player being a consistent performer in the PL should be all the upside needed for us to want to keep him.

Easy to say sell and replace with a player who has the potential to become world class but that's obviously easier said than done.

Besides, he's got 1 year on his contract. Either he accepts a new deal and stays for another 3-4 years, or he leaves for an insignificant fee. There's no scenario where we bring in a decent amount of money for him this summer.

Love the start of the response..

I would say if your looking at his contract length now, than you probably wouldn’t get a higher offer come the summer.

If you took the contract situation out of it, who could you replace Garner with for £30mil.

You would have to take a massive gamble on a young player that would still then take time to adapt.

Just get his signature back on a contract slip.

I think his contract has an option for another year. I’m honestly not sure, some places have said it runs through 2027.

This is how you get better when you’re a club like ours right now.

No, you bring that player in and give them time to adapt and find their way into the team, whilst still having strength in that position.

A gamble on a player isn't a guarantee, so you have to factor that in before creating a hole.

If you're talking right now, you take Garner out of the team up until now this season and see where we'd be.

Without him in the middle, without him covering LB and without him covering RB.

Think about that.

Genuinely no clue about that, but say we extended for 1 year and then sold him i dont think we would see full value regardless.

Moot point to me as I think he's one of a core group of starters that should be kept and built around.

We need to be keeping Garner and buying better. That’s how we improve. Against United it was McNeil coming off the bench once Grealish and Ndiaye went off. Last few seasons he was a nailed on starter.

We need to buy competition for Garner Rohl Armstrong Iroegbunam KDH and Alcaraz as the group of central midfielders.

We might be 13th instead of 11th.

The thing we’re going to have to accept here at some point is our players are largely average. Again I like Garner, his versatility is helpful (he’s played fullback sparingly though this year) but he’s not a difference maker. The money is too good to pass up for him imo.

The only player that we should build around is Ndiaye and we probably won’t be able to keep him unfortunately. This squad is highly expendable right now. We need some wheeler dealers.
