Are the real Scotland fans wanting this? ( Rangers and Celtic fans this is not the thread for you )

One of his grandparents make him eligible for Scotland. He does have a cap for England but the game was against Wales so doesn't really count.

He wouldn't be the first Englishman to play for Scotland. If he's good enough, he should play.
 
Sure Declan rice played at all ages for Ireland and was proudly singing the national anthem, as long as there's no rule breaking think it's fine. I don't think he should get a squad place for the WC ahead of a player that's contributed to the Scots qualifying however
 
Happens all of the time.

Zaha was capped by the Senior Team for England, before playing for Ivory Coast.

Elliot Anderson, Grealish, Declan Rice all capped by Scotland/Ireland U21s before switching.

11 of the Republic squad for WC2002 were born in England.
Let him play, if he isnt getting a game for England

I think the thing with Rice is that as soon as he realised England wanted him he switched. Same with Grealish.
 
Find it all strange really.

Of course you want to play in the biggest tournaments, but at the cost of your birthplace, the Anthem you call your own/possibly sing, the country you grew up supporting.

Clubs, ofcourse. Country's 🤔
 
Based on the Parents and Grandparents rule, I could have played for; Spain, Canada or Scotland, as well as playing for England as the country of my birth. If I had the chance I would have proudly played for any of them. I know how happy it would have made my family.

I think its a very personal decision, Barnes certainly improves the Scotland squad and the reality is he is some way off playing for England because of the depth of wingers England currently has.
