New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

City didn’t fill the Etihad until they did and even when they weren’t filling that they were still planning to expand.

The season ticket waiting list is massive now. There’s people losing out on the ballot every game. You’d like to think someone at the club will be looking at future plans to expand.
I thought I read if they do away with safe standing it would add a few thousand more.
Can’t remember the exact figure.
I might have even dreamt it.

We were only considering 60k+ when we were bidding for the Commonwealth games. When that fell through, it went quiet for a while, there was another round of consultation and the outcome was the reduced capacity. If an owner has very deep pockets, then they can go as big as they want (within reason). Brum have never averaged over 40k, nevermind 60k. Then again, the city region is massive, so perhaps the owners think that there is sufficient latent support to fill it (at some point). West Ham had never averaged over 35k in their history.... but the massive floating vote in London, plus cheap tickets at a freeby stadium sees them fill it regularly. We nearly bankrupted ourselves in the process and the owner had to sell up at a major loss. That cost might not be an issue for the likes of Birmingham's owners.... as it isnt for Man City's or Newcastle's, who can build speculatively. We probably had to be more pragmatic.

6 league games in in our new 53k stadium and apart from the opening game there's been loads of tickets on the resale site every game for the ones unsuccessful in the ballot. There's been people who were successful in the ballot shitting themselves when the money gets taken because they didn't really want to go and they try and spin their ticket. Loads of season tickets holders flogging tickets and some not sure on renewing next season. SIX GAMES IN. If you think we need a bigger stadium you're living on cloud cuckoo land. Its sound as it is.

Said in here a few months ago Birmingham are showing more ambition than us building a stadium that big and the general consensus in the replies was that they won't build it.

Now it's confirmed, a team that was in League One last season has bigger ambition than us.

Looks a bit [Poor language removed] with those chimneys though
Personally, I'd prefer we showed ambition by bringing in quality players to fill the much-needed positions in the team, rather than having a pissing contest over stadium sizes.

That’s also because of actions the club have taken.

You have the Seat Unique tickets, which are being charged out at eye watering rates. In general, the ticket prices have gone from being some of the most reasonable in the Premier League to the most expensive.

When you mention season ticket holders, it’s difficult to make every single game, and this year, the club have made it even more difficult to transfer your ticket.

I live in Hertfordshire with a one year old, so can’t get to every game. In the past, I could pass my physical season ticket to a friend or relative. Can’t do that now. If it goes on the re-sale, the club are charging a killing on it.

Billionaires don’t waste money though.

The business would have to be able to support the construction cost.

They’re a lower half championship club who were averaging 16k 3 years ago.

Not a chance they’re building, and filling, a 62k multi billion pound stadium.

Most billionaires don't. They'll be wanting an NFL team there.

Oligarchs and Big Oil Billionairss do.
Sports washing and ego.

I meant it's confirmed they have more ambition.

Not sure if the stadium is confirmed, but I think I posted in here in the summer that they'd already paid £60m for the land.

Good for them if they get it sorted, I read about the land and the government happy for it, I'd be surprised if they get that design approved though, we had to make ours lower and reduce the width of it from original plans.

Doesn't a bigger stadium that meets demand help that? If not, we may as well have downsized.

It may be selling out every week currently, but the below gives a little glimpse of what might happen when we don't have that "new stadium" hype

As many said during the whole planning/construction...it's better to have a stadium that's full most weeks, rather than one that can handle the absolute max who might want to see one game ('meets demand') but has masses of empty seats most weeks.

We probably need to wait until this season ends before even thinking about expanding the stadium.
If the renewal rate drops off which i think it might as many i am sure were waiting for the new ground before calling it a day.
Waiting lists are all well and good but there is no comitment to buy and could quite easily disappear when the seats are available.

Birmingham describe their new stadium as "football-first". That speaks volumes.

The intention - unspoken - is not that Birmingham City will fill it. It's that other sports and events do.

I assumed nu the tone of your message your daughter has paid well over £120m to plan her mansion?

A stadium that meets demand would been nice. BMD doesn't do that and we're crap. Imagine if we ever get good again.

Other clubs seem to be being optimistic and ambitious.

They have been open from the start. Rarity creates demand. The better we get, the more people want to come, the more they can charge per ticket.

Not particularly agreeable, but will create more revenue.
