The debt (or at least a lot of it) is probably loaded onto the club. The plan would be that a football team in the 2nd city, with a new stadium, will in turn raise the value of the club to the point it isn't wasted anymore.
They are also looking to tap into the gig market and that's why it will have a roof and slide away pitch, like Real's. If you consider how much the co-op cost, for something nearly 3 times the size and the fact it has the football side of things too, that alone might be a good enough business case.
We'll see what happens and whether they hold off until they are a PL club. I just wouldn't bank on it not happening unless we have global events that rival or surpass what we had to deal with.

Just to add though, I think the design may change as they cut costs. The general details though of it being a 60k stadium with a roof will be right.

It was around 2000/2001 that the club unveiled plans for the Kings Dock, with a capacity of 55,000. At that time we were averaging 34,000 at Goodison.
Newcastle expanded St James’s in 1998 to 52,000. The Stadium of Light was opened in 1997 with a capacity of 49,000.
You then factor in that since the late 90s / early naughties, the Premier League has absolutely exploded globally, and you think how / why did we arrive at a capacity, that would have been logical / in keeping with our rivals 25 years ago?
Back in the naughties there was no waiting list for a season ticket (I just rung up and got mine in 2009) and you could get a ticket for nearly all fixtures (Derby maybe only exception). Even getting away tickets wasn’t too difficult. In comparison, we’ve been selling out Goodison constantly for the last few seasons despite being relegation threatened.
The new stadium looks stunning and is in an iconic location, but the decision to expand by only 13,000 on Goodison was fairly small time. Especially when you factor in that it’s very difficult / expensive to expand the capacity, which I do find odd in terms of future proofing.
When our rivals rebuild or relocate in the years ahead, it will be to larger than just under 53,000.

I'm not so sure. I think the sweet spot for most of the clubs around our size would be 50-60k with loads of hospitality.
We are in that ballpark and have a boss stadium in an iconic location. That's more than most teams have.

Not sure if the stadium is confirmed, but I think I posted in here in the summer that they'd already paid £60m for the land.
My daughter wants a mansion 12 times the size of that stadium. Does she have more ambition than BCFC?

...is "ambition" important, if not grounded in reality?
Would it be better if Moshiri/Everton was more ambitious and tried to build a 500k seat stadium?
It will defo be lower then 62k when it or if it progresses our was 60 odd at concept as well.

A stadium that meets demand would been nice. BMD doesn't do that and we're crap. Imagine if we ever get good again.
Other clubs seem to be being optimistic and ambitious.

City didn’t fill the Etihad until they did and even when they weren’t filling that they were still planning to expand.
The season ticket waiting list is massive now. There’s people losing out on the ballot every game. You’d like to think someone at the club will be looking at future plans to expand.

Didn't we also say we were going to build a 62k seater stadium before downsizing to 52k?
We paid for the land at Bramley Moore and then paid 100m to fill in the dock in a way that it could be returned to a working dock in the future.
Ambition is great, but reality dictates what you actually do. I'm happy with what they delivered. People also forget that, had we gone for a bigger stadium, it would've fallen through or we would've gone bust. We were on the brink.

I don’t understand the ambition statement here, it think considering their attendance figures iver the last 10 years it’s a massive gamble and wildly optimistic.
Consider the issues we had building the HD stadium how are these gonna pay for it ?
They will need to be extremely successful just to get close to filling a ground that size
