Also, what ever happened to the Dniprovetsk (sp) maniacs?

Two of them received life sentences and another - only nine years in prison. The guys have already found followers - maniacs from Irkutsk.

Nik's right, though.

No one sees a CCCP shirt and thinks 'yeah, genocide I agree! Heil Stalin!'. Most people just think 'Old Russia'. The wearing a shirt with a Swastika on point is just so out of context and exaggerated that it's silly.

Stop agreeing with me, it's weird and and you're freaking me out x

My point is that we westerners seem to think that a retro CCCP logo is "cool" whereas in fact Stalin was a brutal, murderous dictator. Nik's point that it's different over here seems to support my point more than his.

And Alex's point about the USSR being ancient history in Ukraine is at odds with my own experiences talking to Ukrainians in Kiev. Although they were fiercely anti-communist to a man they also pointed out that whilst some look the the EU as the most promising future alignment, others look to Russia in modern Ukraine.

I think we should be able to do whatever the **** we like in our own country (within reason ffs) and not really give a crap about offending anyone from anywhere else.

But while it was, for some people, a brutal regime, the USSR competed in Olympics and World Cups and stuff so people don't remember them as a load of monsters who just went round killing people.

I doubt many people wearing Swastika shirts do so in support of Germany's increased employment rate during the Nazi regime. However, although many Eastern Europeans don't like it and The USSR wasn't the greatest, teenagers wearing CCCP shirts wear them for fashion. No one uses Swastikas for fashion.

Yes, yes - I know. That's kind of my point. You know - that it's pretty dim, really, wearing a CCCP t-shirt if you actually delve deep into what really happened to literally millions of innocent people (i.e. they were murdered by Stalin).

It's hilarious that commie-basher Nik is challenging my criticism of lefty stupidity. He's surpassed himself there.

I'm not at all. I don't know enough about the subject and don't even pretend to. I don't even do politics. I have some social beliefs yes, and if that puts me right, left , centre then I'm not arsed. I have some vague knowledge of the political spectrum and from that vague knowledge I know that the left isn't my thing. But I'm smart enough to know that opinions are what makes the world go round. Apart from liberals. Liberals and their fear campaign are ruining this country. Anyway, I don't think people who go round wearing CCCP shirts are communists. It's a fashion thing and purely that, not politcal. I could have seen one up untill yesterday and not have batted an eyelid. I still won't, because at the end of the day if it purely stood for murder and communism they wouldnt be allowed to be printed. I'm sorry your mate gets angry at 'idiot westerners' but he came to this country presumeably to earn a better living whilst knowing that the place was going to be crawling with 'idiot westerners', so I think the positives should outway the slight annoyances for him.
