2024/25 Beto

The thing I really appreciate about Beto is he doesn’t try to do too much when he gets the chance. He will toe poke it, tap it and just put the chance away when he gets the ball in the right position. His first goal for the club was really clever and he has continued to score similar goals. He has no shame and I can appreciate that.

2 headers missed in the 6 yard box ( one a sitter ).

Failure to control balls played up to him.

Failing to make an obvious pass when others through on goal and instead running into a group of defenders

Runs around a lot ( but doesn't make intelligent runs) and tries and an excellent finish when the game was done.

And all this against a League 2 defence.

God help us if Beto ends up leading the line this season.

The more Beto starts the more confident he'll get. Still don't get how he lets defenders drag him all over the place though, never seen it happen to anyone as much as him 🤣

He works hard and that frustrates the opposition. He's never going to be a player that will bang in 15-20 goals a season though in the Prem. I think his aim should be 10 and I think he can do that if we play to his strengths which mean starting Ndiaye and not putting in floating balls but low driven crosses that he can get his big gangly legs onto.

Do think it's end of the road for adjustment to new country club and league. Don't see much improvement from his debut. Much more likeable than some we have. . Gave his shirt to that young girl after match ruffled her hair shook dads hand, so is a good lad. Makes it harder to be harsh, buts it's football on the pitch, that matters but he tries!

He's very poor technically, but, he keeps plugging away and I don't think Calvert Lewin scores the goal Beto scored last night. That's not to say he's better than Calvert Lewin, he's not even in the same league. He will in all probability however, be our only fit centre forward come Friday evening. Dyche will have to find a new system, as there is no way Beto can hold the ball up like Calvert Lewin, that should be interesting.
