As both Mum and MIL have experience of both sides. I think it’s only natural for a new Mum to involve her own Mum more when the baby is first born, I had more involvement with my daughters’ two at first but got more hands on with my son’s baby after a few weeks. I became the childcare when my DIL returned to work after three months. Hope you get to see more of your grandson soon, an offer of babysitting usually does the trick.

Yes have offered, as you say its only natural a daughter will be closer to her Mom. I'm close to my Mom still, My paternal Nan had 4 boys and once they married they hardly bothered with her and it upset her greatly and I know many women I have worked with over the years have said the same. Think the old saying of:
"A sons a son till he gets a wife, a daughters a daughter for the rest of your life" is very true.

Morning all on this lovely day when Im finally allowed to tell you what I’ve known since Christmas Day - I’m going to be a grandma and we’re all absolutely over the moon. I’ve been desperate to tell people. I’m just wondering how many major life events my son can fit into a 6 month period - my head’s in a whirl.

Another late start on here for me ,I went to look at a car yesterday in an auction it was the same model as the one the day before but 60,000 kms less driven and at that time a quarter of the price ,so off I jolly well went .I got there 40 miles away and the guy was open to stopping the auction "as there was an unforeseen fault" the reserve was well below what the last one was so off I went on a test drive -the roads can be very bad here when it is around zero -On driving to the garage our 4wd was doing a four wheel drift - out I went and within ten metres I realised the 4wd wasn't working ,I checked and the flaming thing wasn't 4wd but it was good underneath which is a fault of Mazda cx-5's .So home again to rue the fact I am set on this model and I am yet to find the right one but all knowledge is good knowledge ,life is a learning curve.
Yes I have enquired about another that is 300 miles away !

Oh I forgot the reason I am posting late is I have been fixing the snow blower ,it's primer button was having little effect so upon disassembling it I found the pipe had a hole so there was no suction ,therefore no priming the petrol! So now all is good .

Surely you wouldn’t drive 300 miles to buy a car? Not exactly around the corner.

As a bald man I must say there is no bias toward baldness here ,it is to do with genetics

No. I don't think they want him. I'm not sure a balding 63 Yr old fits in with the image of a leisure centre/ Spa. Even if it is to be a handyman! It does annoy me though - if you've taken the time to attend an interview the least they can do is give you an outcome.

as lots of elder men are bald here .Shame on them if it is the reason and there is no excuse for bad manners .
They say grass does not grow on a busy street ! nor in a desert!

Had this conversation during the week with an unemployed beautician. Still wants employment but salons seemingly want a younger person regardless of experience. No logic to it.

I don’t get that at all. You only get one Mum. Unconditional love for you.

I was not very close to my Mum, It made me sad. As a consequence I have tried so hard to build the relationship I would have liked with my Mum with my daughter. I think it has wotked. She actually asks me if I would like to do things with her and shares most things with me = sometimes to the point where I think OMG do I actually need to know this!!

Oh that's nice for you, I had two lads and wouldn't swap them for the world but sometimes I wished I had had a daughter so I could do the things with her that I do with my Mom, once my Mom goes I'll have no one to do anything with as I live alone.

I said yes - she's an adult, It'z not like she's 14 or something. So, the alcohol was flowing. Mucho vodka consumed and a really nice night but I['m quite bevvied - it's taken about half an hout to type this! I'm dreading getting up to do overtime.
Also I watched The Greatest Showman this afternoon. Good film - even for a non musical lover like me.
