Grown so much in the last 12 months under a proper manager. I'd happily apologise to him for the slander I said about him when Lampard had him all over the place.

Hopefully he stays around for a long time, such a useful player with no ego seemingly.

Did what was asked of him. Definitely not an ideal position for him but he’s been playing well the past few weeks.

It’s not his fault, but there’s a big difference between being a winger who tracks back and helps, and being a defender.

Also the further he is from the opponents goal, the worse we are.

….noticeable how often Burnley got in behind him but it’ll be a huge help if Branthwaite is there to cover that channel against Fulham.

I can't see him playing there again. Against a competent side we'd be toast, doesn't matter who is playing along side him.

Even if Myko isn't back, we'll have more actual defenders at our disposal tomorrow.

…..if Mykolenko isn’t fit I’d be surprised if he goes with a back four (i suppose Branthwaite at LB is an option I hadn’t considered).

His conventional LB option is Mackenzie Hunt but he’s not given him game time so difficult to see that changing tomorrow. Probably leaves Godfrey as a square peg in a round hole LB which I doubt will happen, especially as it would mean leaving Keane out.

Time will tell, but I do think Branthwaite playing CB behind McNeil will help.
