TV Series

I thought the same with BB. Very overrated. Don't get me wrong there are some great moments and characters but they are few and far between. Did find it was better in the last 2 seasons.

Before i watched it people kept saying its the best show ever and to stick with the first 2 seasons and its gets better. That's almost half the show that most people thought wasn't great.

And i agree with the statement on the wife. One of the worst characters in tv show history.
I’m with you on BB. Took me about 4 times to get past the first couple of episodes. Finally went for it when the final series was coming out so thought I’d try and get up to speed. I did enjoy the first 3 series but always had pretty big issues with it and I thought the last couple were not that good at all, especially the final one (although that is true of many shows).

I’ve probably watched The Wire 5 times at least now but have never had any desire to rewatch Breaking Bad. And as a result have never really given Better Call Saul a proper go. I probably should but there’s a lot of shows out there now and I don’t have the desire to.

Had a big think about tv this week. The amount we spend on it is mental. Don’t know what everyone else subscribes to but we have always had sky, Netflix, Amazon, BT sport.

We are cancelling the lot. Just can’t justify spending the money on it all anymore. Not sure why we did in the first place. It’s about time all these companies, especially Sky got a reality check.

It’s firestick o’clock.

Whats the appeal of Yellowstone? Genuinely watched 1 and 1/2 eps before turning it off. It was like watching a hokey version of Dallas. Does it get better as it came across like a cliched, slow trainwreck. If I slog through a couple more will it open up?

Started House of Dragon and it’s quite good. Was expecting it to be boring but it’s not. Good cast, well made, quite brutal - not at the original level of intrigue but they’ve taken the good stuff and worked a good series so far. Not enamoured with silver haired dreadlock clan which is like how do you all have that hair but whatevs I suppose.
I’d suggest a good 4 or 5 episodes of Yellowstone (if you can stomach that) so you get a feel for the characters before writing it off, but can see it wouldn’t be for everyone.

Ps if you think the silver haired dreadlock clan are a stretch, wait till you see the fire breathing dragons :p

I'll give it a burl at some point. Fire Breathing Dragons are very real. I used to live with one ?

The Wire is a strange one for me. I haven't got past season 2 and i loved both season 1 and 2.

The issue being i have stopped watching it and feel like i need to rewatch from the beginning again. 3 times i have rewatched the first 2 seasons and haven't moved on to season 3.

Thats my mission to finish the wire finally.

Season 3 is fantastic and Season 4 is the very good. Season 5 is... Did I mention how great Season 3 is?!

Finished Servant season 1, I really enjoyed it, kept me wanting more so that's a good sign. It is a bit creepy. Not always a fan of M. Night Shaylamen but this is a good one

Andor fantastic again this week

I've absolutely LOVED this whole series so far, every episode has been brilliant, but last nights episode was the absolute best yet, and probably the darkest, and most frightening 45 minutes of Star Wars we will ever see.

In A New Hope we were introduced to the HEAVILY 'Nazi' regime inspired Galactic Empire. Stormtroopers, generals in gray or black uniforms, everything big, loud, bleak, massive destructive weapons, fighter pilots - all led and brainwashed by a psychopath hell bent on world/galactic dominance. We saw the Star Destroyers, The Death Star and the mass genocide on a planetary scale - yes A New Hope introduced us to a fantastical, fictional, swash buckling sword and sorcery adventure of good against evil....and the fun, colorful stuff covered up that evil, the Han Solo heroes, beautiful princesses, laser swords - all hiding what was actually in plain sight.....evil, pure unadulterated evil!

Andor is showing us that side. Not an Emperor or Dark wizard sidekick in sight, but the other people employed by the empire, the evil that exists within them now.....Dedra Meera's character could be anyone of Goebbels, Borman, Ribbentorop, Dontiz, Himmler or Goring......intelligent, cunning, ruthless, murderous and mean without remorse......she's an UTTERLY brilliant character written to perfection.

An article I read somewhere sums up what I am trying to say perfectly - "The Galactic Empire Lucas created was always evil. with nothing “normal” about it. It was evil in an exaggerated, unambiguous way, one coded for kids who were watching George Lucas’s largely lighthearted tribute to Flash Gordon serials". Andor's Empire is real. We are seeing it uncovered, laid bare in front of us and its riveting stuff, most of last nights episode actually left me breathless.

My favorite lines in the episode (in an episode full of them):

Cassian: "You think they care what we say? Nobody's Listening".....and it makes a fabulous, foreboding episode title!

Vel: "We’ve chosen a side. We’re fighting against the dark. We’re making something of our lives"

Dedra: “The very worst thing you can do right now is bore me.” - the best line EVER in Star Wars since "The Force is with you young Skywalker, but you are not a Jedi yet!"

Kino: “Never more than twelve.”
