Everton midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has been named in Troy Deeney’s Premier League Team of the Week.
Indeed, Deeney poses the question that the 27-year-old could be the ‘signing of the season’.
The former Chelsea player has been a breath of fresh air in Everton’s midfield since his summer arrival.
However, there’s no doubt he’s gone up a level in recent weeks, especially since moving into a deeper midfield role.
Writing for BBC Sport, Deeney said: “Is he the signing of the season? He has been fantastic.
“Not only is he scoring, he is pulling the strings and has become the heartbeat of this new-look Everton team under David Moyes, who can get another gear out of these players as they did against Nottingham Forest.”
KDH IS ARGUABLY PLAYING THE BEST FOOTBALL OF HIS CAREER AT EVERTON. HIS FORM WILL BE ESSENTIAL FOR BLUES THIS SEASON
There’s barely a blade of grass at Hill Dickinson that Dewsbury-Hall didn’t cover against Forest.
He brings an energy and tenacity to Everton’s midfield that has been lacking for a number of years.
However, there’s quality, composure and vision to his play. Equally as comfortable in possession as he is winning it back, he’s arguably our Player of the Season so far.
The 27-year-old scored his third goal in five games against Forest, whilst he also put in the cross for Milenkovic’s own goal opener.
His partnership with Jack Grealish continues to blossom, with the pair seemingly always able to find each other in space.
Their form has us dreaming of Europe for the first time in years. Perhaps it’ll be a little out of reach this season, but it’s clear progress is being made.
However, there’s no doubt that any European push will have Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall at the centre of it.
An Everton midfielder who’s a reliable source of goals and assists whilst not being afraid of getting stuck in. Be still my beating heart.
