Lukaku: “I owe Everton so much”

Romelu Lukaku believes he owes Everton ‘so much’ for giving him a chance.

The striker, who scored 87 times across two spells at Everton left the Blues for Manchester United in 2017 with the Red Devils paying a fee of £75m.

Via Instagram, Lukaku explained: “Looking back I owe that club so much they gave me a chance and believe at 20 years old and I truly enjoyed my time there. The fans are amazing and it was a pleasure to play for such great club”.

  1. Don’t forget when we came 7th we still would of been 7th if he hadn’t of scored a single goal!!

  2. He’s fantastic but I’d prefer Lautaro Martinez if we’re going to raid inter. Not that we are.

  3. Id take him back but only if in the contract we stipulated that his dad didnt come anywhere near the club and couldn’t take about him…

  4. Sometimes his first touch and close control was an abomination.

But an absolute goal machine. Welcome back Rom.

  5. He was an annoying mouthy nob when here regardless of what he did on the pitch. He can go rot his career away in Italy now.

Nice of him to say so…didn’t come accross like that when he was here though…especially on international duty.
Maybe ‘the grass isn’t always greener’ penny has…as it often does, belatedly dropped

  7. Also I’ve just looked, Lukaku has more or less a 1 in 2 goal record, we could do with that here. I could see the board stumping up the money, it would just depend on if he wanted to come back, usually former players always speak well about there time at Everton.

  8. Are we starting to look like a good proposition for him now, when he’s done in Italy? I could see him coming back, bu5 it would have to be soon, as I don’t want a repeat for the Rooney coming back when he’s more or less done.

  12. Easily the best goal scorer, but also the laziest player we’ve had in the past decade. I remember a lot of walking and pointing. The midfield would hustle and the win the ball back, but couldn’t do much with it, because Rom would be walking back from the previous play/miss, and be miles offside.

Oh here he goes again. Chatting bubbles during a winter break this time……
To be fair, it’s just off his Instagram post were he has something to say about every club that he’s been apart over the last decade

Did Rom just essentially do a “come and get me”?
No.

  93.
Yes, just what we need against City and Liverpool – playing with 10 men.
Sidibe picking Roms head out of the box, Bernard and Richarlason creating space for Lukaku to plant his ass in the 6 yard box and tap the ball in, if only we had a natural scorer like Lukaku again

Lost my bookmark to the Pedro meltdown over him. Gutted.

    Great read this.

bit of a knob towards us when he was at United wasn’t he?
I think us booing the crap out of him probably didn’t help like

  96.
Get him a forward pass and he’ll do the rest.
Absolutely. If he was one-on-one with the keeper, I expected him to score pretty much every time and I was shocked if he didn’t.

It’s easy for people to mention his touch and love of goals against the lesser clubs rather than the best, yet an almost one-in-two goal rate speaks for itself.

  97. The lads on toffee tv were saying he wants out of italy because of the racism. Maybe this is him extending an olive branch for a possible return to the pl?

You’re right, all we need is to get someone with good link up play and to share the goals around the team.

And why go out and spend a huge sum on Lukaku when we’ve already got Cenk Tosun?

  99. Where we are now, perfect, if we get to the point where teams sit off of us and defend in numbers then I may as well play upfront for Everton.

Hope he’s ready to play on Sunday

We do have Tosun still, to be fair.

Yeah it’s a shame only two strikers exist in world football.

    Why?

  103.
Monumental bellend. I’d be hesitant taking him back despite his scoring record.

  104. Best striker we’ve had in decades – would welcome him back whenever. We’d be in European places with him in today’s squad.

    Didn’t think he did humble

Probably just grew up a bit, realises that his time at Everton was probably the best he’s been treated by fans and a club

We’ve been over this. It was completely deserved on our part.

He can come back here and get us 20 odd goals a season again anytime he wants as far as I’m concerned.

Technically he wasn’t the best player, however he’s quite easily the best goal scorer we’ve had in the past few decades and it’s hard to argue otherwise.

Not really, I just think he’s a bit ‘direct’ and to the point (crass?), but even when he was here I thought his comments weren’t actually disrespectful.

The above comment is a quote from a message where he talks about all his other clubs as well, so I don’t think he has an ulterior motive.
