Marco Silva believes his side didn’t deserve to lose against Burnley.

Marco Silva told BBC Merseyside Sport: “The result was really disappointing. I think we deserved more than we achieved.

“First of, we had the better team on the pitch, no doubts about that.

We controlled the game against a tough team to play. We are always the the most dangerous team on the pitch, first half we created more chances than them – a chance for Alexi Iwobi and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, all dangerous moments.

“The second half started the same way, more balanced. The second yellow [Seamus Coleman’s dismissal] made a big impact. A harsh decision, and of course afterwards it was more difficult for us.

“In the end they were more brave than us with set pieces because we had so many set pieces first half, creating so many dangerous moments and we didn’t score”

    We are now third from bottom, played 8 and got 7 points. For us to climb not only means winning games but the others above us losing so that we can climb. Can one believe in Silva?

    This is it for me. Couldn’t bring myself to go to that West Ham game (last game of season) and join in the ‘send off’. The man was still doing pre match press conferences in his Everton training tops’ when he was already Man Utd bound. Hideous. And I blame Kenwright for that too. Should have put him on gardening leave for rest of season once he agreed to join Man Utd.

  3. I think I’m officially off the Silva train now. I haven’t seen anything of the Burnley game, I was on some 250km mountainbike thing in Holland and only saw the score on my phone at full time whereupon the woods echoed to the sound of “For F***s sake Everton!”

    We play exactly the same gameplan every week regardless of the opposition, there is no consequence for failure for the likes of Schneiderlin and Sigurdsson which in and of itself isn’t a bad thing but they haven’t put in a performance between them all season. Set aside Gbamin being injured, Silva can’t do anything about that, we have seen that a combination of Schneiderlin and Delph doesn’t work. Delph is being asked to play a role that he is not a natural fit for, Davies may be inconsistent but he has to be given a chance at being the guy to move the ball forward with Delph taking Schneiderlin’s place.

    Possession is good in that without the ball the opposition can’t score, but we’ve shown time and time again that we don’t need to give them the ball to score, just a set piece will do. We have no variety going forward, I’m still not sure if DCL is a bad striker or not because he isn’t getting anything to work with. It shouldn’t be a defining factor but Silva just doesn’t look like he cares, either. I really hope there is some sort of arse kicking behind the scenes, some sort of impressing upon the players that the current standard is not good enough.

    I would not in a million years reach for the David Moyes button, though. Never go back. Especially not back to a manager who has failed dismally everywhere since he left.

    We need to complete the churn in our squad (Sigs era hasn’t worked, MS? Not for me). But let’s see them with a rocket under them for a season and make our minds up on where / when they go.

    Sure some of us had I doubts about Silva, however, hoping this so called reputation shone over the evidence of his managing of Watford and Hull.

    So far this season I have seen the highlights on MOTD2 vs Wolves.

    And that’s it.

    Other commitments have seen me miss the games at the start of the season, followed by a complete lack of interest in watching something that is going to make me depressed.

    Life throws up and downs at us every day, but I don’t need overpaid soccerballers confirming all that is wrong with the world currently.

    I want Everton to succeed. But we have been on this carousel of chaos for decades and it never gets any better. If anything the more hope we have, the worse it gets.

    At what point do you simply walk away.
    Not from Everton as such, but from this overpriced, gambling encouraging, certain team favouring, corporate mess that is the modern game.

    Its just simple deflectipn. He just not good at it and really has no where to go with.

    I suspect the answer is ‘yes’ to all three questions – but not just at Everton.

    The likes of Burnley are always going to allow us to have plenty of possession, knowing we will play loads of pointless ‘Martinez’ passes before running out of ideas around the penalty box. We don’t have the players to play that way, both in midfield and attack, and with the sale of Gana we lost our main tackler, so struggle to regain possession and our so called ‘pressing’ game implodes.

    We’ve seen this before with Koeman and Allardyche, they surely know if the team can’t do it, the book stops with the manager

The thought of chopping and changing manager mid-season fills me with dread but Marco comes across as a pretty poor communicator and seems to lack a certain “come on we can still do this” response to setbacks. Several of his key players also seem to give up a bit easily when things don’t go according to plan.
    Final worry for me is this blooming 4-2-3-1 being churned out whoever we play which means he is just repeating the same pattern of play regardless. Everyone knows what to expect from us and we are springing no surprises on any one.
    Players are not blameless though. Lacking in heart and application when things go a bit wrong.

    At least Keoman had won numerous Dutch caps and medals during his playing career so you could sort of understand why he was appointed

    Martinez..well he’d just put a big shiny massive piece of silverware in the boardroom at Wigan so you could of sort of understand why he was appointed….

    However, EFC is not Wigan or any small Dutch team that Keoman was associated with this is Everton Football Club and we should start acting like it.

    Was talking to my dad before and we compared Silva to Catterick…
