Manchester United v Everton

Everton look to extend their Premier League winning streak to four this weekend, but to do so Marco Silva must achieve something only one Everton boss has managed since 1992 — triumph at Old Trafford.

Roberto Martinez took all three points at United’s home in 2013.

But before that it was the inaugural year of the Premiership since the Toffees tasted victory at the self proclaimed Theatre of Dreams, a truly dreadful record that Everton will look to improve on Sunday.

It is fair to say that the Red Devils are in a slump. With just one win in their last seven outings in all competitions, it comes as no surprise that José Mourinho is on thin ice.

Their last victory wasn’t all smooth sailing either, they had to fight back from two goals down against Newcastle at home before the international break. They showed signs of life against Chelsea last weekend but their midweek display against Juventus in the Champions League was uninspiring, going down 1-0 against the Italian champions. It was a scoreline that flattered the Mancunians.

The Toffees start the day above the hosts in the league, with just one point separating the sides.

Sunday will prove to be the 200th time the clubs have played each other. Manchester United have won 87 of the previous 199, with Everton being victorious on 69 occasions. 43 have ended in a draw.

One to watch

The man who scored both of United’s goals at Stamford Bridge last week, Anthony Martial.

The two strikes would’ve done the Frenchman’s confidence the world of good and he will fancy adding more goals to his tally when he comes up against a defence who have kept only two league clean sheets this term.

Team news

Former Everton striker Romelu Lukaku is goalless in his last eight appearances for United and Mourinho may axe the big Belgian for the clash.

Alexis Sanchez will miss out, Jesse Lingard is doubtful.

For once, the Blues will head into a match without any new injury worries, Yerry Mina and James McCarthy are both pushing for their first involvements of the campaign.

Man in the middle

Jonathan Moss will officiate his second Everton game of the season he took to the whistle when Everton were beaten 2-0 by Arsenal at the Emirates. He has shown 33 yellows and three reds in the 10 games he has taken charge of this term.
