Out on Loan – EFC’s Young Players 28.09.17

A pretty uninspiring view this week of the Everton Academy products on loan in the Championship and lower:

Joe Williams probably had the best of it, featuring in a home draw and an away defeat for the full 90 minutes each time and not coming in for particular criticism from Barnsley fans.

Kieran Dowell was also pretty active, playing one full match and the usual 70 minutes in the other as Nottingham Forest went down to two defeats and attracting his usual mixed response.

Matthew Pennington made a welcome return from an injury lay-off as he played 45 minutes for Leeds and got some bouquets from the travelling fans for his performance.

Antonee Robinson had to make do with brickbats from the Bolton faithful as he was substituted in a home defeat and ended up on the bench for the next match.

Tyias Browning had a full match and a booking before also ending up on the subs bench for struggling Sunderland’s second game of the week.

Brendan Galloway, on the other hand, couldn’t make the field for either of Sunderland’s matches, not even being in the matchday squad for the second one.

Callum Connolly sat on the Ipswich sub’s bench twice while, even more worryingly, prospect Liam Walsh didn’t even make ex-EFC player Lee Carsley’s matchday squads for Birmingham.

Conor Grant had a runout for League Two Crewe on his return from a concussion but also had to make do with a place on the bench for the next match.

Henry Onyekuru apparently also continues to struggle in what appears to be a desperately poor Anderlecht side this season.
