Everton are in talks with AC Milan over a potential transfer for Gustavo Gomez.

Everton have sent representatives including Director of Football Steve Walsh to discuss players from both AC and Inter Milan – multiple names have been suggested as transfer probabilities including M’Baye Niang and Gianluca Lapadula but Gustavo Gomez is reported to be a significant transfer target according to Calciomercato.

The Paraguay international, joined AC Milan in a £7m switch from Argentinian side CA Lanus last summer. When the transfer was completed, Lanus president Nicolas Russo was also quick to praise the centre-back, telling Tuttomercatoweb (h/t Football Italia):

“Without a shadow of a doubt he is ready for this step up. Gustavo is an extraordinary player, very strong and certainly ready to face this new adventure. His greatest strengths are in the air and in challenges. Gomez has a winning mentality and will be Milan’s first choice defender for the next 10 years. … I can confirm that Milan, Fiorentina and several Premier League clubs wanted him”.

He's gonna be the Gueye of 17-18 isn't he?

I automatically mistrust defenders who like doing skillz

They're not going to send Walsh over to sell a player he barely knows. Walshy is doing the business while Bill and Bob are bound and gagged in the boardroom.

"New Alcaraz. Serie A is a backwater league. The fact that Koeman didn't sign him when he was 6 years old tells you everything."

Wow, I didn't always think impressions worked in text format. 😉

Are we assuming Walsh was there to buy rather than try and sell Geri?

Im pretty sure if Milan had an interest in Geri it would have already been done, could be wrong like, but hes defo there to talk to clubs regarding Ins, IMHO ofc.
