Everton surrendered a two goal lead after Magaye Gueye and Leon Osman had put the Blues in a commanding position.
Bolton fought back with goals from Irwin on the hour and an equaliser from Joe Riley 2 minutes from the time who ended the game the stronger team to get a point which was about right after the 90 minutes.
Everton got off to a perfect start inside 4 minutes through Frenchman Magaye Gueye. Silva pulled the ball across from the right after being assisted by McFadden who has recently returned to give the blues the lead.
Osman and Rodwell were looking comfortable on their returns and it was McFadden who was very impressive with some amazing runs and almost got on the scoresheet only to se his shot blocked.
The new recruit Junior was putting himself about lacking any fear for the man of his size then helped put Everton 2 up on 20 minutes when he put Osman through who chipped Lynch the visiting keeper.
McFadden again came close to getting off the mark only for Lynch to deny his 25 yard free kick. At this stage Bolton never really troubled Everton but towards the end if the first 45 minutes Hahnamann was called upon to thwart Obadeyi.
Junior and Silva combined nicely as Silva had an effort which took a deflection and narrowly went wide.
Osman had two chances denied before the whistle which Lynch did well to deal with and full back Tyias Browning also showed some steel to block an effort from Riley.

Bolton were quick to make three changes at the break and it was Osman who was replaced on 46 minutes with fit again Connor McAleny filling his role.
Everton were building up some good play in midfield with Rodwell and McAleny shining.
Everton were still by far the better team at this stage and Browning made a strong run to cross for Silva to knock down with a header into the path of Gueye to thump a volley which was blocked.
Bolton had finally found some consistency an were posing a threat but newly appointed coach David Weir was showing signs of experience with his defensive display.
The trotters won a free kick after Dave Weir was the guilty party but Riley’s effort broke the net on the hour with a thunderous free kick which left Hahnemann helpless.
The goal put a spring in the visitors step then the home side reacted by trying to retrieve the 2 goal advantage, again Lynch was equal to deny Silva’s angled drive.
Everton replaced Rodwell and McFadden with Lundstram and Orenuga and both replaced parties must have been pleased with their contributions.
With 18 minutes remaining Silva was shown a straight red for what the referee adjudged to see as the use of an elbow on Eckersley but it looked a very harsh decision to send him off. Eckersley had to go off for treatment but couldn’t be replaced as Bolton had used all of their substitutes leaving the teams with ten men each.
Unfortunately the game changed and Bolton it was who took a grip on the game as Odelusi’s header went agonisingly wide.
With time running out and Everton desperate to hold out for the points the visitors pressure paid off as Riley’s run and a cut inside the box to deceive Touray who beat Hahnemann to level the game and finish 2-2.
Some great displays with Junior and McFadden also Gueye catching the eye but Eric Dier has certainly become a promising star in the making by taking the man of the match award.
