Newcastle 1-2 Everton

Goals from Osman and Jagielka earned Everton a morale boosting three points as they came from a goal behind to defeat Newcastle at St JamesĀ“ Park for the first time since October 2000.

David Moyes made two changes to the team that whimpered to a 1-0 defeat at home to Reading, opting to replace Seamus Coleman and Bilyaletdinov for Tony Hibbert and Jermaine Beckford and reverting back to the fan preferred 4-4-2 with Beckford starting up top with Saha for only the third time.

Everton started well and were unfortunate to find themselves a goal down on 23 minutes when Tim Howard spilled a tame Kevin Nolan effort into the path of Leon Best who was left with a simple header inside 5 yards.

Everton responded well, with Leon Osman equalising within ten minutes with a calm finish after clever interchange with the influential Mikel Arteta down the left.

Five minutes later, Everton turned the game on itā€™s head when Jags scored what proved to be the winner when he fired high into the net from Leighton BainesĀ“ free-kick.
