Everton beat Juventus

Ok it was only a pre season game but an enjoyable one at that.

Everton set out with five at the back including the game´s stand out performer in young John Stones.

The game was played at a good pace and Everton were the better team in the first half and were unlucky not to go in ahead when Stones hit the post forms deflected cross.

In the second half then Italian champions put more pressure on but Everton coped well, if not relying on some good saves from Tim Howard at times.

Kevin Mirallas gave us the lead from a quick break where he cut inside the full back before finding the near post.

Steven Pienaar was played through and should have made it two nil but spewed his shot wide.

Pirlo was brought on to much hollering and whooping but the Armani Bee Gee didn´t have much effect on the game.

The Juve equaliser came from an Osman mistake which allowed their most dangerous man Asamoah to traction engine the ball into the corner.

With no further goals scored in regulation time it was a penalty shoot out to decide who´d play probably Real Madrid in the jarg final.

Osman missed before Barkley, Mirallas, Jagielka and apparent Latin penalty king Oviedo scored along with Juventus´ first four penalty takers also notching leaving the stage set for Andreas Pirlo to take the decisive fifth pen. Would he chip Howard on the latter´s home soil? Alas no. He jarred it to the left of the goal like the a kid wearing Gola on your local council pitch.

The next penalty was by John Stones who proceeded to nonchalantly chip the ball, as you like, into the top corner showing Pirlo what he could have won.

Coleman added another before Howard saved from one of theirs to not spark scenes of jubilation but Stones´ team mates buzzing off his moment.

Pirlo also changed shirts with Barkley which I would imagine will take pride of place in his leopard skinned pool table basement.

A decent run out for Everton that. Allez allez allez oh.
