American soccer

I don't know anything about their soccer clubs other than some of the names. But just after Backham had moved to LA, I saw a programme on TV regarding it (in the UK). There was a vote on which clubs were most popular. Predictably, everyone chose clubs from the bigger cities such as LA Galaxy and New York Bulls (I think). The team with the least support, happened to be Real Salt Lake, who are now my American team.

So who do you support and why?

By the way, I know bugger all about RSL, other than they are clearly not too fashionable. I must start to swot up on the club sometime soon.

I'd like it better if they didn't wear so much padding and stop the game all the time.

I could go on for days about the MLS and it's advent back in 1996.

I will say this much:

1) The quality of play has improved considerably since 1996.
2) The quality of play is nowhere near world class standards.
3) The quality of play is good enough to compete in the English Championship and certainly League One for comparison purposes.

Hope this helps.

i support dc united
a) because i'm from dc
because we're the best team in the league hands down (don't care where we finished this year, we're the best )
c)we've won the cup more than any other team (if ya know your history)
d)barra brava, the dc united supporters group, are the best supporters in MLS. this summer i went up to new york on a bus with the supporters (the bus trip is approximately the same distance as a trip from leeds to portsmouth), and dc united ended up having more supporters there then the main home support group! we lost that game, as this has been our worst season in a very long time, yet the barra brava always turn out in full force.

and bill's assessment on all 3 points is pretty much correct.

also, nearly all of RSL's fan base is mormons, thats about the extent of my knowledge about the club

you should go by train, smash it up in both directions, destroy the bus from the station and leave calling cards, then blame it on 'that basketball lot', they'll soon provide antiquated rolling stock for your transportation which they wont mind you wrecking as they want to scrap it anyway. you should do a 'warriors run' where you have to run the gauntlet to return home safely, shit you can even adapt a song....

funny enough about clubs providing transportation. all of our trips are independently financed by the supporters groups, or individuals themselves. clubs like shitcago pay for away transportation, but the black and red know they don't need to for us, we don't mind having to pay a bit

and as for all the other junk, we have no misconceptions about who we are. we're a fan club, not a firm, i said we were the best fans in the league, not the hardest ;)

All joking apart, but this would raise the profile of the game within the world.
