The UFC and Mixed Martial Arts Thread

There seems to be some folk on here who are fans so I thought I'd create this thread so we don't tread on the Boxing fans toes

Does anyone think UFC should cut ties with Roy Nelson?

I think he could be a valuable part of the roster. He looked terrible in his last fight though. He'd need a big win if he came back

Roy is a decent fighter but he's stubborn, he'd be much better at 205.

He doesn't help himself that he winds his boss up all the time which could see him get cut sooner rather than later.

I think Roy would struggle to make 205 to be honest

If he could though, I think he'd enjoy some decent success in there

Light Heavyweight is such a crazy division to begin with. It's weird having such a steady champion in Jones because before him the division was an absolute mad house with the belt changing hands left and right.

At it's best, I don't think anything touches Light Heavyweight for excitement and fight quality

Have you seen Roy's belly ffs?

He could make straw weight if he got rid of that!

I think he'd easily cut to 205 if he took his diet seriously. For a professional athlete who supposedley trains a few times a day, his diet must be hideous for him to look that way.

As a fighter he is great to watch (generally). He is either getting his head smashed in and continuing to move forward, or he is a KO artist, and both are entertaining. I think the UFC will make every effort to keep him (and they should). He must be a good draw.

I think a bit too much is made of it to be fair

yeah, he could stand to lose some of it though

Genetically I'm not sure he could cut to 205 and still be capable of fighting

I'm still amazed that Anderson Silva has cut all the way down to 170 for some fights

I don't think he'd manage that now

Having KO Power transformed his career really. It gave him an extra intangible that he would have struggled without

His last fight was on short notice. He had knocked out Kongo fairly quickly and when the UFC called for someone to step up he did so. I think you could tell right away that he wasn't in his best shape though. He had been slowly looking leaner in his fights and for the Miocic one he looked massive again. Maybe he thought he could get the KO quickly again like his 3 fights previous.

I like him, and he's certainly relevant in the division.

It's a bit stale at the moment really isn't it.

We have dominant champions right now but I think there's a few lions coming through to sort that.

JDS vs Cain 3
2 fights for Jones are Gustaffson & Glover, I'd like to see him step up tho.
Anderson vs Weidman who is a talent
Rory mac is the future ww champ.
155 I'd like to see Pettis get his re match eventually.
145 you get Aldo'd
135 Cruz vs Baroa eventually
125 is just on fast forward who ever it is.

My homegrown hope is Connor Mcgregor, boy is talented.

One of my favourite fighters is Frankie Edgar but I can't see him getting in the title hunt any time soon

I liked how used to not cut and just fight at his actual weight. He was always at a disavantage as a result, but the mans a warrior. His fights with Maynard and Henderson were great wars.

His fights just don't tend to draw though and I'm not sure what else he can do to change that
