The curse of the right back

Dyche is just safety first with full backs. Myko is probably his wet dream on the left, can't really cross or shoot properly 90% of the time but has had a fantastic season defensively with very few RWs skinning him.

The problem however is it's 2024 and FBs are integral to how the top teams play coming inside and becoming hybrid midfielders. If you have two limited FBs with little quality once crossing the halfway line then you need a creative midfield. Instead that is safety first and relies on Doucoure getting into the box and causing a bit of chaos with his presence.

All it usually means is the ball is just played sideways and then back to the CBs or Pickford who'll just boot it up to the CF or the wide players to attempt to do something and you then get nonsense like three home wins from the first 14 played.

I do think if someone like Nathan Patterson was at Brighton or Brentford you'd have seen him develop much more at prem level. Have to think he'll be pushing to leave if he starts next season warming the bench as he's been here over two years now.
