Ruud Gullit, Philip Neville and Rio Ferdinand are joining Match of the Day as it celebrates its 50th anniversary.

Former Dutch international Gullit, 51, and the ex-England duo of Neville and Ferdinand will be part of a team which will also include Alan Shearer, Robbie Savage and Danny Murphy.

Toes are curling already.

Not watched MOTD for years. Mainly because i can't but i think Ruud could be a decent addition to the team.

I really think it would benefit from having some non-ex-player, football-loving folk on it. No, not Russell Brand but that kind of thing. Someone to give a bit more of a common-man spectator view of things, lighten the mood, and stop it being so driven by Striker/Midfielder/Defender agenda. Shearer claiming every minor infringement is a pen, Dixon claiming otherwise, blah blah.

Oh dear, the Kopites will be fuming that MOTD from Anfield only has one LFC supporter on it. I smell the whiff of a boycott and letters sent to the Monarch.

I'm in the States so forgive my ignorance.
What happened to Lawrenson? I saw the national day of mourning when Hansen quit but don't remember the thatched head leaving.

Occasionally watch motd, always forward the analysis.

Much prefer goals on Sunday with Kammy, or football first for the blues on the rare occasion iv missed it live.

He signed a new 2 year deal in 2013 but his appearance on MOTD was limited last season, he is a bit part on MOTD but writes for BBC on its website and does 5 live.
