Lundstram

I don't thinkhe has the qualities to play in the premiership. But this is a chance for him to show what he is made of.
If he can't handle a dog fight ,playing in a poor team then he has no business being in professional football.
It is the ideal opportunity for him to show that he has the leadership qualities that players who play in the position he does need to have.
If Blackpool survive in the championship it will be a big success for them.If they are relegated nobody will be surprised and the players will not be blamed. I would happily send one or two more there.

Some thoughts from our board about Lundstram.

They vary a lot, which is typical of the board in general if you have a look elsewhere on it ... we're not quite as level headed as you seem to be.
For me, he's struggling and very hit and miss, but hard to say how much of that is down to him and how much is our general crapness at the moment.
I don't think anyone would say he's on track for the Prem at the moment though - Joe Royle's been seen at the ground, presumable keeping tabs.
If only anyone we have now was half the player Seamus was for us.
Cheers.

I suppose he can only be judged against other players in the team. Is anyone playing well for you at the moment? It seems such a turbulent time.

No not really, despite the poor preparation for the season, most of the team are patently not Championship standard. Joe Lewis (keeper on season loan from Cardiff) had a good game last night and has generally done well, but no one has really stood out. Hard to say how much better Lundstram would be if he had better around him. He’s playing alongside Perkins in centre mid, who’s very limited but a battler and a fan favourite. If we get Cubero (Costa Rican whose work permit is taking an age) and he’s what everyone is hoping, I can see Lundstram on the bench. The team seems to be behind Riga, as are the fans, but it's certainly going to be character building.

Don't see much of a future for him here tbh. I imagine that Besic, Barkley, Ledson, Williams are all thought much higher of around his age.

Always going to be hard for a young player to shine in a team that is struggling. You wonder if Martinez very much saw the point of his loan as being a mental one rather than a physical one. To build character in the lad, as you say. I don't imagine it's doing him a great deal of good from a playing perspective. He may come back to Everton with a renewed vigour to give it the best shot he possibly can though given he's seen how things could be on the other side of the fence.

Hopefully you manage to turn things around a bit, on and off the pitch.

Thanks for the update, always interesting to hear how the lads are doing on loan. Hope things improve for your club as the season progresses.

Yes, a few of our loan players have found it to be 'eye-opening' over the years, not that washing his own kit really did Lee Hendrie much good in the end.
Hard to see things turning round while the Oystons are here. The impetus from the good that happened came from Valeri Belokon, who the Oystons froze out as soon as they hit the Prem jackpot. Belokon still hasn’t been paid back the £7m or so he’s owed while the Oystons will now be moving the final parachute payments away from the club, mission complete.

Just an update on him after the game on Saturday ... he made a bad error for their third goal so more of a savaging than a considered debate. He was asked to play at fullback after we had to move our fullback to CB - we've only one fit centreback and he's a 20 year old on loan from WBA.

Plus a conspiracy theory

We're so poor on the pitch and so deficient off it, it seems a pretty thin line for me at the moment as to whether this is 'character building' or just going to drain his confidence.

Thanks for the update, sad both for your club and him that the loan isn't going better, hope things improve.
