    "Three More Years..."

    http://www.grandoldteam.com/news/gen...ree-more-years

Phil Neville has again dismissed talk of retirement and is targeting another three years playing at the top level. The 35-year-old said: "I worked quite hard over the summer. I went on holiday but I trained at a facility for a couple for weeks - that is par for the course now,"
"Particularly when you are getting older you have to stay ahead of the game.
"At the clinics I went to over the summer to do my training I learned that age is just a number.
"I want to play football for as long as I possibly can: two, three more years hopefully at the top level.
"The way that science is improving now players can play for as long as they possibly can.
"I think it is your mind which goes before your body and once your mind goes you can´t make that back up.
"I´m quite a positive person. People say only look for this season but I am thinking ´Let´s look for another three years´.
"But I have to remain fit, strong and keep playing well to keep my position in the team."

As long as he's strictly a squad player and not a first choice every week.

ha tbf he is in good condition for his age and he aint exactly going to be making 30+ starts every season, more closer to 10/15. i think players with his experience are key to every squad, just look at how much arsenal are winning without an adams/vieira influence. I know they influenced more on the pitch, but some players can have just as much influence off it. 10 more years pip ;)

And that he takes a considerable wage cut once his current contract expires (next summer)

If people watch the actual video of his interview, he talks a lot of sense. I realise it's not fashionable to say this, but I'm proud that Neville is our captain. Alright, he's not the greatest player in the world, and he is getting older. But the Everton players do all clearly respect him and look up to him, and he does lead by example. There aren't many 35 year olds in the Premier League in as great a physical shape as Neville is. He's a good role model for kids and clearly does care about Everton.

If we ever see him play centre mid again it's a travesty. Never seen a player look so off the pace.

Can still do a job at right back though. Not a starter mind.

    Perfect captain.
Has a dodgy barnet and is the worst dressed player at the club ((c) Distin in tonight's EFC webchat).

Good for banter and morale then.

Seriously, all footballers have crap hairstyles and dodgy boots.

Totally agree with this. His leadership on and off the pitch is essential to Everton's success. I think we'll be making a big mistake if we don't give him a player/coach role at the end of his contract.
