cricket team is england and wales, i hope to god the football teams don't merge. Thankfully i am very confident this won't happen. Rhodes should have definately made this squad though

It's daft that football is there. Look at the teams that will be put out, they're nowhere near the full squad for those nations. For footballers the Olympics is a complete irrelevence. That's why tennis and golf shouldn't be in the Olympics either, it simply doesn't matter enough to players that would rather win a Major than an Olympic gold medal.

It is a shame that it is not more inclusive, bearing in mind it is a one off. Even though footie is never an olympic sport, we had one chance to a have a GB team, one that all 4 nations could have got behind, but as soon as Pearce was made manager, (why?), it just looked like an extension of the FA. The BOC should have insisted on all nations being represented, IMO.

Agree with the Golf and Tennis Bruce, but I still think, as a one off, it would have been a chance for a squad of young players to play in a majorish tournament, and be able to compete as an Olympian. We have swerved that, so now, most couldnt give a fig.

The whole thing appears to be a bit of a shambles.

Well yeah there is a team there so it does seem odd that players like Giggs, Beckham and Bellamy were even considered. Apparently the football matches begin before the opening ceremony though, which really is daft.

    Very much this.

"Scout" a bit, watch a few games, and you'll see there are some good talents in there. I don't watch it as frequently as I would like (this might change now? Who knows...), but from the little I've seen there are some quality players in the SPL.

Was the "next big thing", now not so much, I think. Still a good player, could develop into something better.

    Ace on FM though!

Think he believed his own hype a bit too much. Definately not living up to potential.

Yup. Its farcical. Made worse by the press coverage. People actually upset over who gets picked.

Most people dont even know what countries are planning ffs

Even Anichebe has a silver in it

Would you class lucas as a olympian? Hes won gold in the Olympics

Most olympians feel winning gold is the pinnacle of their careers...kinda doubt he does. Anichebe might cos hell not win anything else lol
