    Marco Capuano

    Kipper reckon we're interested...

Italian u21 centre back....seems to me like a VERY good signing if we lose Heitinga (which has been rumoured)...

We have Distin with a year left + Johnny and Jags around 30 years old and then Duffy a decade younger....

    No brainer.

we're being linked with a lot of CB's, our strongest position in the squad, suppose another young un won't hurt but we've bought a few that haven't made the grade

He's an U21 fixture for the last year mate....bit more likely to see action and apparently one of his teams best players.

I'm quite a bit of a gambler to be honest, I have the view 'what if' a player is potentially better than what we have + younger and cheaper....

'What if' we sold Jags and Heitinga and signed 2 young lads like Dortmund did a few years back....'what if' they became top class....

It's the only way we can challenge at the top unless our youth are all super duper...

I think if you look at Heitinga's wages, other centre halves available, contract, willingness to re-sign etc....you can see why the club would look into the possibility of moving him on its probably basic business. However I think the details of his contract added to his euro performances means there probably hasn't been much interest.

It's pretty common to offer players to ascertain their value, and create demand in them.

Agents are doing it all the time on behalf of clubs.

That Sheedy fella ( I come in peace ) on the name and shame thread is in the process of becoming an registered agent, he will know further details.

I'm a long way from that mate , hoping to sneak into via the back door if I'm honest and piggyback on someone else's registration and even that's in the future before I could formally call it a job. That said as i understand it's pretty common to as you say 'test the water' for players.

Well the position we are in can we afford to risk something like that? Our problem is firepower, not our defence. In fact our defence is probably the most stable area of our time and to risk that would be ludicrous.
