    Gennaro Gattuso

Fantastic player in his prime....I haven't seen much of Milan in the last year so no idea if his legs have gone + he's an old codger at 34 (35 in January)....though I'd expect him to have great positional sense in defensive midfield.

He's desperate for a move back to Rangers and is looking at only 12k a week as he has enough money since playing for Milan for the last 13 years: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/foo...t-Rangers.html

    Here's his wiki; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gennaro_gattuso

He's always been a great defensive midfielder -- would be competing I imagine with Fellaini, Gibson for a starting berth or would possibly be a good option as backup -- in comparison to Neville perhaps ?

I was also thinking he may be a good option on the coaching side -- much has been made of Rodwell lacking the hard tackling side to his game + Barkley needing to improve defensively and of course I'm sure Gibson and Fellaini could learn a thing or two from him....

For 12k a week he sounds like a great option as a player/coach if his wish to move back to his wifes home city doesnt go through.....

I'm NEVER one to advocate signing old players -- ONLY youngsters -- but for 12k a week surely the worst case is that our other midfielders and young players can learn from him on both the playing and mental sides ?

He's so past his best, but I'd love us to sign him simply because I love the bearded little mentalist.

He'd be far better than Neville as well. Which isn't saying much, admittedly.

If he hasn't got the legs for Italy, and his game is only about legs, then he definitely won't have them for England.

Also, were well covered in that department IMO. We'd be signing a name not a plyer if this happened.

Talk is he's always wanted to finish his career with Rangers, respect off me if he does. I love players that make a connection and keep it going.

I absolutely love him as well....for 12k a week surely that's at least worth it for cover for Gibson/Fellaini and if Moyes resigned McFadden then......well ? lol

On the coaching side he'd bring an enormous amount to the table to our backroom staff -- our young midfielders would learn so much from him.

Have his legs totally gone or would his positional sense enable him to be a valuable squad member ? I dont know.....?

Just depends if he has the positioning to play defensive midfield....otherwise would be excellent on the coaching side in theory.

I do think his lack of pace might be exposed, as Neville's is regularly, but I have to go with heart over head for once and say I don't care about logistics... seeing Gattuso in an Everton shirt would be f*cking awesome.

Love the person and admired the player that was Gattuso. He's well past it now though, maybe he could still cut it in the SPL.

Always loved the way he shouted out the National Anthem while playing for Italy.

Oh FFS, can we please sign him on a season loan or something?

The thought of him snarling his way towards Gerrard's Achilles tendons at full pace gets me harder than a particularly rocky piece of rock.

Good player= good coach doesn't always add up though. Otherwise Alan Ball would be the most decorated manager of all time.

So this isn't actually a rumour then? Just Zatara putting two and four together and getting 12 yes?

He's as bad as the Sun journo's.
