I am getting a bit bored of atmosphere threads on here tbh, but everytime there is one there is snipe from you over the singing sections.
Singing Sections, ie a place in the gound where like minded fans congregate to sing, has been a part of
Goodison for decades. It was the advent of reserved seating, a consequence of the increase in attendance at
Goodison in the mid 90s that stopped it.
The singing sections are reaction AGAINST the modern football fan culture of sitting and only singing some standard when there's a goal or the tannoy plays Grand old Team.
It doesn't bother me if you wish to sit down and not sing, you pay your money you can do what you want, but it does bother me when you have a go at others with little digs just because they wish to get behind Everton in the manner that many thousands of Evertonians have done throughout the decades.
My family go back to before the the first world war for supporting Everton, although the oldest I have spoke to was my Grandad who went from the 20s. I can reassure you there were was singing at the match then too. 70+ years before Sky. Fans would also congregate under St Luke's previous to then to sing as well. So can you update your assertions on the concept of singing sections please?
