No - of course it carries no anti-British sentiment whatsoever:

    By a lonely prison wall,
I heard a young man calling
"Nothing matters, Mary when you're free.
Against the famine and the Crown
I rebelled, they cut me down!

Depends what you mean by British. You seem to equate it with the State.

It's a song against oppression...which has fcuk all to do with that dirge Liverpool supporters sing...

What next, Robin Hood song angers the Norman-descendants of the Conquest?

All this is much ado about nothing anyway: some daft Kopites thought Chelsea fans specifically would be offended by booing GSTQ as a tit-for-tat for the Hillsborough booing. This wasn't an all out assault on the monarchy (mores the pity). These people are only motivated by getting themeselves publicity they're not ideological.

The echo taking a 'nasty southerners out to get the poor scousers' stand on things? Never!

Tbh I couldn't really give a **** about the scousers within that crowd who were booing, they can do one but at least they have the right to. What pisses me off is thinking about all the foreginers who would have followed suit to fit in. Cheeky ****s.
    ****. DO TELL.

"As the British public are facing great financial problems, the taxpayer's money will fund the lavish celebrations of the queen's Diamond Jubilee including a seven-mile flotilla of 1,000 boats along the Thames and the queen and her husband's around-the-world tour".

    Boo away people. Boo away.

That was one of the comments in the echo section, which i 100% agree with. I don't boo, they should of just stayed quiet and not sung it, being silent would of been a better protest, but do i condemn it? Not a chance.

    Scouse not English....deal with it

I find it all but impossible to agree with the cult on anything, but on this one I wouldn't want to score too many points off them.

The Royal family are a shower of Nazi-worshipping, weird bloodsuckers, who aren't past offing members of their own household, and who deserve zero respect and a one way ticket to oblivion.

Anyone see the comments at the bottom of that article ??

One lad says how Liverpool are linked with The Beatles, and we are not mentioned.

Im not sure, but by that, I think he means we are not a scouse football team, as we dont have the word 'Liverpool' in our name !

Wow, do people like this really exist ??

I know that a lot of this is based on the fact that nobody seemed to give a stuff and in fact mocked the demise of the city and the people there, but if its the case that you all say "we aint English" then why on earth should the public service base any of it's depts. in the city, and more to the point why should you have a right to kick up a stink when the said depts are closed.

I can see both sides of the argument tbh. because amazingly it was the whole of the North West that was affected by recession and ****gie, and not just the city of L'pool, scousers will always hit back with "we had it the worse" but living 1/2 way along the East Lancs Rd I can confirm that the desolation was at both ends, and towns in Lancs were shut down.

Anyone that says all scousers have always thought that and are celtic blood is also talking through their hoop based on their situation alone, my Grandfather was born and bred in L'pool, he was English and extremely proud of the fact, in fact objected when reffered to as 'scouse' to him that was like calling him a scally, and his accent was more like mine than the accent of today... which was the accent of the city not that far back.

They invented the Beatles mate. And they built all the docks. Libpoolfc gave us all that.

    Thanks Libpool.

'We're not English, we're Scouse'; what they really mean is 'we're not successful, we're finished'.

It's all displaced anger for them being smacked from pillar to post for two decades on the pitch. They're jumping up and down screaming 'look at us, look at us!!! We're still here'.

Totally agree with the accent point: Liverpool twang from a couple of generations ago is unrecognisable from this clearing of the throat sounding grunt doing the rounds now. It used to be much more recognisably Lancastrian.

I was gonna put that as a suggestion for The Esk's pre-engraved 7th place trophy, if the need should arise he can add 'Athletic' on the end and send it off to the pit, added with a 'sharpy' that starts to run* out by the letter 'l' for added effect.

    * all sharpy's run out 1/2 way through autographs etc, in fact the only sharpy thats always topped up resides on this forum.

I wouldn't boo the national anthem and i certainly wouldn't sing it, infact i can't wait to get gone from this ****hole of a country. Only thing i'll miss is scouse birds and Everton.

Prentice is a gimp, hate how Everton get dragged into Libpools business just cause were from the same city, in footie terms we're hardly similar.
