    Moyes Pleased with Kids...

...this taken from the minutes of the recent AGM.

"DM is excited by the quality of young talent coming through, e.g. he cited Vaughan and Anichebe, but insisted there is an excellent crop of young players who are not far off being considered for first-team action."

We know the likes of Vaughan and Anichebe, regulars now. But good to see Moyes recognised the upcoming talents of some of the others. So who do we think he is talking about. Who is close to first team action?

    Boyle,
    Vidarsson,
    Kissock.
    Agard,
    Baxter?
    Rodwell?

You would think Boyle and Vidarsson, both having been out on loan (and lived to tell the tale, unlike many who were loaned out and shipped out the next summer), yet neither have been close to the first team this year, even though both play in positions where we have had shortages at various points of the season.

One really positive sign however is that we're a decent side at the moment, and it's far easier to integrate young players into a reasonably successful side than one struggling.

I guess the question you have to ask at the moment is who would you drop to accomodate any of them? The first eleven are playing pretty well at the moment. Boyle has Valente/Baines ahead of him so he'll struggle until Valente retires. Vidarsson has less competition for the wide areas but is into his 20's now, hopefully he's a late bloomer. It's hard to see the strikers breaking through at the moment as all five of ours have shown some form this season. Kissock and Rodwell both have opportunities I would think, although both may be a year too young at the moment.

Guess we'll just have to see. Lovely to have options though.

It is for this reason I wouldn't worry too much if Faddy went, it would be money in the bank

Well I want more than a springy bit of plastic. I want a place where I can charge my iPod. Heated cushions. And one of those Cup a Soup hug arms for those cold, depressing nights.

Now you're talking. I remember reading lots on stadia design in the late 90's and the talk back then was having all sorts of gadgetry in the seats, from video consoles to electronic ordering services. Such features are perhaps more suited to longer games out in America but I thought they were pretty cool. I think the Docklands stadium in Australia has some pretty cool features and is around the size we'd want.

http://www.austadiums.com/stadiums/stadiums.php?id=120 if you wanted to have a look at it. Now that's the kind of stadium that would have me drooling

I'd like to see Boyle and Irving given a run-out at some point. Both appeared to be close and then suffered from injuries and certainly Boyle is being named on the bench now. Plus they are in defense where they would be handy with cover in case of a run of injuries.
