    Conor Mcaleney

Thoughts on him after yesterdays game? I thought he looked really encouraging, not sure whether he'll get games in the campaign though as he's only 18.

He looks tidy but wasn't all that impressive but I'm sure he'll get better as he gains more confidence.

If alan ball rates him then that's good enough for me.

The trick with these young lads coming through for me is that though they will prob not start many games haveing depth and options from the bench is worth a good 5 -10 points a season - Utd have won titles based on squad depth alone.
Silly Season So Far: Rooney, Fer, Wakaso, Cheryshev, Alcaraz, McCarthy, McManamn, Kone, McGeady, Moses, Tadic, Salvio, Cardozo, Molders.

I liked his movement. Very much a traditional style striker that would play well off a "big" man up front.

Its at this time when you think. He won't develop in the ressies. Loan him out to a championship club for a few months, take him back, put him on the bench and then let him put the bejibbers up any player thinking that he's got a front birch for life.

Looked like he has the potential to be an Osman-type player. Slow-ish, small-ish and good ball skills. Now he has to have the determination and the luck to see it through like Osman did.

Slow? He was pretty rapid mate.

Anyway, his contract expires next summer, as he signed a one year deal in June.

    Eh? Not slow at all!

Firstly he does have a long way to go, you can see that from the half that he played. However he could be ace, comparisons to michael Owen (when he was ace) maybe a bit too early but he defo looks to be a similar striker to that. I think he could be a good option to have on the bench if he develops amazingly well this season, something different from the big lugs of victor and yakubu.

There are lots of examples of strikers who score more in top flight football than they did in youth/reserve football. Maybe they flourish on the higher quality company.

I just made the first sentence up. I've no idea if it's true or not but it feels true

Disagree there. His movement and his anticipation got him space, not his speed (similar to Osman), which is a great asset and why he might have a chance to break through. But as far as his speed goes there were a few times he didn't outpace his man (like Osman) running one on one.

Give the lad a chance and let him develop, hes been performing pretty well in his age group but at his age he is exactly what should be a long way of the finished article.

He needs to get loaned out, as has been mentioned, and learn his trade. I liked what he did though. Lot of energy and desire.
    I don't get drunk. I get awesome.

needs a loan deal at a championship club to develop for a season and we'll see how he is next season, but he definately needs another season before he's ready for our first team squad.

Wasn't particularly impressed. He usually plays on the wing for the academy side I think. Don't anticipate big things from him.

I love being proven wrong though.

Yep looked decent. Would be good playing on the last man for through balls.

He could do with a few streaks though.
