    Signing from Dallas, Texas

Another American on the board? Just what you need. After playing football for 10-some-odd years growing up, I dropped it for the other football in high school.

I've always wanted to follow the EPL, but it's difficult when you're not entrenched in the culture. Dallas is very much an NFL city ... as you can imagine.

What really helped was ESPN's coverage of EPL matches (albeit lower-table) on Saturday mornings. It really made following match day much easier.

I started casually following Everton because of Howard. The recent loan of Donovan made it make even more sense. So here I am. I have no ties to Everton whatsoever, but I'm oddly drawn to them. Really looking forward to Merseyside this weekend. Thankfully it's on ESPN2HD and not FSC (no HD for me yet) or Setanta!

I'll be ready. Unfortunately, Friday night is my 33rd birthday celebration. I'll either be extremely hungover or still up.

    welcome from 2 states north.

As for "not having any connection to Everton" and just "being drawn" to the club. As you read through the forums here you will see that Everton chooses you. Not the other way around.

I will be up early Saturday as well. The forums are great. if you are on twitter there is a lot of crossover between the forums and twitter.
@grandoldteam has a twitter account. There are quite a few Ameritonians on here as well as twitter.

Already following on Twitter. And not really a Cowboys fan. I follow them, but I'm truly a Denver fan. That's what you get growing up in an Air Force family. Allegiances all over the place.

Good. I hate the cowboys. How do you think Shanahan will do here in Washington?

Who cares? 'Skins are an NFL afterthought even with all of Snyder's cash.

What team do you support? The Bears? The Redskins may suck now, but we have one of the best histories in the NFL. "It's enough to make your heart go wooooooor"

Spent my formative years in Colorado, so I've always been a big Shanahan fan; I think he'll do well. He's obviously an upgrade over Zorn. There's also a lot of talk that they're looking to draft Sam Bradford from my alma mater. If true, I don't think he'll be ready for play until probably 2011 or 2012.

The most interesting aspect of Shanahan will be if his style of play (lots of offense, mediocre defense) will work in the NFC East. Has he announced a DC yet?

Yeah, Jim Hasletts the new DC. I think we have the players, or at least the front seven, to have a really good defense. I'm hoping they take an OT with their first pick in the draft.

Win 5 Super Bowls then we'll talk. May live in Chicago but grew up in Dallas. 'Skins might have a good history but not as good as the Cowboys. Sorry.

Good to have another Yank here - the scouse slang throws me for a loop sometimes....melt, lerd, lid, weapon and of course, Bovril. Look that one up and tell me if you'd fancy a bit.
