It was a goalkeeping error.....simple as.

Trying to rope Phil Neville in is ludicrous.

Actually, if any other player was culpable it was Heitinga who gave away a needless corner from which the goal came.

Hang on. If thats your view then you don't think a defender, an experienced defender should be standing goal side of his man and stopping him from getting to the ball?

Yes it was a goalkeeping error but it was also a defensive error from Neville, or do you really think he done nothing wrong in his marking?

Not a massive fan of Howard - never have been really!

To be fair he has been in inspired fformover the last 8 games. Poor showing today, but Neville should have known better as well - he shouldnt have been alowed near Howard to begin with. Rule no 1 of defending stay goalside of your man at all times.

Big Howard supporter here and nailed on earlier that his defense has pretty much let him down earlier in the season.

That said...

...the goal today was his fault and he needs to hold his hand up and say that one was on him. A ball that close in needs to be dealt with by the GK.

Hopefully he'll learn from it and move on.

This.

Even if you could pin it on one player, what good comes of it? Not like Moyes is going to send Howard, Neville or Heitinga to the bench for it.

The GOT emotional roller coaster is still running just fine. Bubbling with confidence yesterday, angry and spitefilled tonight.m

Have to agree that both Howard and Neville were at fault for the goal. Neville got caught the wrong side of Kuyt and I wonder if he should be marking a main goal threat in that situation. Possibly Fellaini being off caused a reshuffle in allocation of player to be picked up.

Howard should be dealing with balls in that area or at least have leapt over the top of Kuyt and claimed the obstruction like Pepe does. A poor decision but the first foot he's put wrong in about 10 games. The clean sheets arguement has been covered, it's a defensive unit failing not down to the keeper alone.

If we could put more dangerous crosses in maybe we'd get a few more of these type of goals ourselves.

He made a mistake, all keepers do. He also saved our hide in the face of shoddy defending quite a bit this year. I think Reina is the best keeper in the prem and he more often makes a meal of things as well.
