Right, well seeing as the os have got their player of the season vote up and running, we might as well do one here :P

I know Arteta and Lescott have both had terrific seasons, and one of them will probably win. However my personal vote goes to Andy Johnson. The goals he's scored this season have been invaluable, not just goals but his all round performances have been awesome. Without AJ we would most likely have seen a lot more of Beattie, which is a bonus in itself :P I thoroughly believe that without him we'd be nowhere near where we are now. That's how important I believe his contribution has been.

Anyway, who does your vote go to?

If I've missed anyone out just let me know and I'll stick them on. Oh, but if anyone suggests VDM I'll smack yer ;)

Difficult one to call, yes AJ's goals win games but so does good defending. Lescott has been excellent and don't forget has been played out of position for many games and hardly a foot wrong. Arteta has done well also. Very difficult picking out one player when the team as a whole has been doing so well.

My vote for man of the seaon apart from one or two slipups which are forgiveable goes to David Moyes. Yep I mean it.

Now where is Attrotel???

Has to be Joleon Lescott.

His original value of £5 million has tripled at the very least. He has been outstanding save for one or two nervy days and the hiccup at Bolton, but for a player who plyed his trade in the Championship for the past five years this is to be expected. This is his first Premiership season. He took no fannying around time like Ballack, Schevshenko, Morientes, Dawson et al did when they made the step up/transfer to the prem. He got stuck in an proved his worth as an absolutely crucial asset to the team.

Been brilliant. Didn't get him on the back of my shirt for nothing.
LESCOTT!

well....

Arteta has been good and consistent through out this season, hes improving his skill, beating defenders repeatedly in the corner for fun, had the assists and the goals...definatly player of the season...

However other contenders which may be overlooked...

Lescott- Solid in defence, but his 2 mistakes have been major - the bolton offside and the own goal.

Howard - Saved us against Arsenal (a), liverpool (h) and (a), hes been great for us, and if we had wright in goal i think we would be around 12th...hes been great..however some weak moments...positioning on freekicks...etc...

Johnson - Great for us, however some matches dissappears in teh strong opposition...

Call me crazy but I'd give Lee Carsley a vote. I don't think it's any coincidence that when he played healthy for us a few years ago, we got 4th.

Then he's hurt most of last year and we have a rough go of it.

Then he's back fit for us this year and we have another good run.

Unsung hero in my opinion and just as worthy as Arteta, Lescott, & Johnson.

You know, I'm totally stumped. I cannot separate Cars, Lescott and AJ. And RJ is spot on - man of the season is Moyes.

I have gone for lescott, as in support for his capabilities of stepping up dont forget that he missed the chance to play in the premiership with wolves through injury and only played just over half of last season. That is an acheivement which swung the vote for me.

Mikel Arteta - Close with Lezzers tbh but i think Mikel wins it, his assists have proved vital and we wouldnt be where we are now if it wasnt for him.

Thread stickied :)

I've gone for Arteta. He is that little bit of silky skill who turns draws into wins for us. He'll probably leave us at the end of the season but I love him.

I went with Lescott. The man had been immense. You can count his off games on 3 fingers. AJ, Arteta et al have all had more than 3 games where they went lacking. I also acknowledge the role Carsely plays, but I feel he needs a little more of the technical aspect to be added to his game (which at his age, probably won't happen) before he can take the POTY accolades.

I am glad to see someone who has, in the past, been critical of Moyes recommending him for the man of the season. Yes Robert, I am looking at you ;) I am glad he came good and has dragged us out of the perennial relegation dogfight.

Consistently Brilliant.

Joleon Lescott.

Difficult one this year but I opted for Lescott. I knew what AJ and Arteta were capable of, Lescott was abit of a risk and has been (as Rob put it) consistently brilliant.

I'd like to vote for Howard+Osman+Stubbs jointly for their unnoticed efforts. Howard for the obvious shoring up at the back with Stubbsy.
Osman for pinning defences back and unsettling them enough at crucial times in games.

However I voted Mikel. He pulls the strings in that team and makes things happen. He keeps opposition midfielders and defenders constantly on their toes and trying to mark him. Awesome, just awesome.

A special mention though to Lee Carsley. It was noted last season how badly we did without him. The season previous to that, where he played as much as Yobo has this season, well we all remember that. Invaluable player. Not glitzy or flair but absolutely essential and very very effective.

I think Lescott has had a good season and is becoming an awesome player but he is still a bit rough around the edges for me. He can and is improving all the time though. If I was a betting man I'd place £20 on him being in the England setup within a year.

Couldn't agree more.

Now we have had a few votes in and looks Lescott is leading, can we say Lezzers is player of the season now?

Ill write up an article then :)

well, I said it months ago, Lecott is the man of the season. Well done that man. I think in this modern day this word describes him better than anything. "WARRIOR"

What a shame that the Player of the season is going to Arteta again (well he was miles ahead last time I saw) purely through lazy voting if you ask me.

I think all of us here know that Lescott has been by far our best player this season, I said it before. Consistently Superb.

Lescott is excellent but my choice still remain with Arteta. He brings so much to the table. 9 goals and numerous assists. Hard to vote against him. I do agree Lescott is solid as a rock back there and is a close second.(y)

Lescott, has shown himself to be an excellent CB but also a very good LB.

Prone to the odd 'playing 18 players onside' episodes :P

Hard to remember that AJ is a relatively new addition to our team, he has fitted in so well.

And Mikel Arteta, what a joy to watch when he is on song.

But I have to go with the majority here and go for Lescott. Uncomplaining and unshowy but stunning defensive work a step up from what he has been used to before and against some of the top players in the UK. And attacking overlaps which have changed some games. Brilliant buy.

And yes, Robert Jarvis, I did notice! (Do you not think that DM has been sounding a bit cranky lately? E.g. "it sounded like a proper football club" etc.)

Lescott has been so outstanding at LB that I wonder if Moyes will try bring in a CB during the summer and keep Lescott there.

Robert Jarvis

Yep that is exactly what I put on another post, strikes me we have found a good left back, no who should we go for as a replacement CB.

Attro, DM cranky??

ps It has always been a proper football club, might have had a few bad seasons of late, indifferent managers, some players like square pegs, some fans who like to have a rant now and then. Does not mean they are any less supporters though. But always a proper football club. Cheers.:pint: :pint:

i reckon thats moyes reminding the crowd that support is essential, and that he still has the spurs game on his mind.
I agree with you, Suits.

I think that game cut very deep and the reaction of the crowd has left its scars. Although I was over at that game and didn't boo (don't think booing or whistling has any place as a fan), but I could understand why people all around me were.

Haha I didn't visit toffeeweb forum for a long time because I had a lot of work to do, I went there and logged today and I think what happened there where is everybody... but ok, I found this (y)
I don't really know what happened there I was too lazy to read. :)

Now on topic, I think that whole team deserves player of the season reputation, ok some of them more some of them less, but I think it's all about the team spirit that kept Everton so high this season.

Cheers! (y)
